A delegation from the Nigerian Institution of Mechanical Engineering (NIME) Kaduna State Chapter led by its Chairman Engineer (Engr) Dr SO Yakubu has paid a courtesy visit to the Commandant Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA), Major General A Oyebade. Stating the purpose of their visit, the Chairman of the Institution said that the visit became necessary in order to acquaint themselves with the Commandant and to cement the mutual relationship between NIME and NDA. He called on the Commandant to encourage his mechanical engineering staff and officers to register with the institution and to support their office building project.
National Chairman of NIME Engr Dr Elijah Ejila, added his voice by appreciating the Commandant for creating an enabling environment for their members to function effectively in NDA.He called for collaboration and an interface between the two for a more profound relationship. Responding, the Commandant Major General A Oyebade said human existence is anchored on engineering and that no development takes place without engineering as its core. He praised NIME as a critical partner in national development noting that engineering is a very critical discipline that is key in military operations which according to him every service chief takes seriously as it enhances our national security.
He clarified that NDA’s presence in NIME is very elaborate and that NDA is ever ready to partner with them. General Oyebade assured that Mechanical Engineering Cadets of NDA will automatically become members of NIME on graduation. The Commandant said he felt elated that one of his staff is the current Chairman of NIME and pledged to support and enhance their office building project.The visit which held at the Loyalty Conference Room of the NDA was attended by the Principal Staff Officers (PSOs) of the Academy, Dean Faculty of Engineering, Engineering Staff of the Department of Mechanical Engineering and the Press
