Nigerian Defence Academy
Brigadier General Ayoola Akintunde Aboaba was commissioned on 17 September 1994 as a member of 41st Regular Course. On commission, he was posted to the Nigerian Army Armoured Corps and deployed to 211 Battalion in Bama, Borno State. He has also served in various formations and units which include 212 Battalion Maiduguri, NIBATT 25, 223 Battalion Zuru, 231 Battalion Biu, Depot Nigerian Army Zaria, Nigeria Military School Zaria, Nigerian Army Armour School Bauchi, Army Headquarters Department of Army Standard and Evaluation, Army Headquarters Command Army Records, Military Command and Control Centre, Headquarters Theatre Command NE in Maiduguri and Army Headquarters Department of Administration.
Brigadier General Aboaba has held several appointments which include Commanding Officer 231 Battalion Biu, Commanding Officer Central Documentation Department Lokoja, Chief Instructor Nigerian Army Armour School Bauchi and Coordinator, Military Command and Control Centre, Theatre Command Maiduguri. He also functioned as Training Advisor as part of International Military Advisory and Training Team for the Armed Forces of Sierra Leone, Deputy Commandant Nigerian Army Armour School and Deputy Director Army Headquarters Directorate of Recruitment, Resettlement and Reserve. He took part as a platoon commander in ECOMOG Operations, OP LIBERTY in Liberia, OP SANDSTORM Sierra Leone as well as OP WHIRLSTROKE in Sierra Leone and military observer in United Nations Mission in Liberia (UNMIL). He also participated in OP FLUSHOUT II, OP HARMONY III and IV and OP LAFIYA DOLE where he was awarded River Niger Star (RNS) for act of bravery. Brigadier General Aboaba has attended several military courses such as the Young Officers Course (YOC) Armour, Company Commanders Course Armour and Commanding Officers Course. Others are the Junior and the Senior Staff Courses respectively at the Armed Forces Command and Staff College (AFCSC) Jaji and the National Defence Course at the National Defence College Nigeria.
Prior to his posting to the Nigerian Defence Academy as Registrar, he was the Director, Army Headquarters Directorate of Army Recruitment, Resettlement and Reserve. His academic qualifications include Bachelor of Science (Honours) and Masters of Science in Security and Strategic Studies, Nigerian Defence Academy. Brigadier General Aboaba is happily married and blessed with 6 lovely girls. His hobbies include playing golf, reading and travelling.
